Cycling holidays in the Scottish Borders
Tweed Cottage is the ideal base for a cycling holiday. The Scottish Borders is fast gaining
a reputation as a centre of excellence for mountain biking with some of the best trails, passes and cycle lanes in Europe offering great cycling for all abilities. Around the Scottish Borders you will find over 20 cycle routes that all start and finish in major towns.
Four Abbeys Cycle Way
Jedburgh is linked via The 4 Abbeys Cycle Way – A 55 mile (88km) signposted circular route linking the 4 Abbeys in the Scottish Borders at Jedburgh, Melrose, Dryburgh and Kelso. The route follows mainly quiet roads, although short stretches on A-roads are unavoidable. Plenty of time should be set aside to explore the historic places of interest, we suggest 2 or 3 days for this journey, alternatively the route can be broken down into 4 sections. A detailed guide can be purchased at any of the Abbeys and all the tourist information centres in the Borders area. Also consider taking Ordinance Survey Maps 73 and 74 which can also be purchased at Tourist Information centres.
Glentress and Inerleithen
Glentress is widely regarded as the best location for mountainbiking in Britain, with routes to suit all levels
of rider. For further information please visit: www.thehubintheforest.co.uk
